About Gate

GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) is an examination that mainly examines the broad understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science. GATE is operated jointly by Roorkee, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Chennai (Madras) and Mumbai (Bombay) Indian Institute of Science and seven Indian Institute of Technology.

GATE exam 2020 will be organized in the online mode by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi on February 1, 2, 8 and 9. GATE 2020 will be organized in 24 papers, in which the figures were presented in 2019. The entrance examination is conducted on online mode in two sessions per day. The application form of GATE 2020 will be available temporarily from September 1, 2019, whereas the Admit Card will be issued temporarily in December. GATE 2020 will be valid for a period of three years from the date of issue of results, which is temporarily in March midweek. Scores of GATE 2020 will be used for IIT and NM for CCMT through the Common Online Admission Portal (COAP) for the purposes of admission to IIT. Candidates who score equal or more than the eligible cutoff will be declared eligible for admission in M.Tech programs. The qualifying cutoff for each GATE paper will be different and will be declared in the scorecard by IIT Delhi.

Eligibility criteria of GATE 2020

Prior to applying for GATE 2020, candidates are advised to look at the eligibility conditions given to them. GATE exam has many papers and different eligibility criteria for different-different streams. Below are the general eligibility conditions for GATE 2020. The eligibility criteria of GATE 2020 will include all the important information such as qualifications such as eligibility, score, age limit etc. Candidates who will complete all eligibility conditions will be able to attend the GATE exam 2020. Applicants who are unable to complete Eligibility Criteria will be disqualified from GATE Exam 2020. Students must also keep in mind that these eligibility conditions are for the GATE examination and Eligibility criteria for admission to M.Tech courses will be decided separately. All applicants applying for GATE 2020 must have completed their bachelor’s degree or should be in the final year of their graduation. Candidates who have completed their bachelor’s degree are required to submit a passing certificate and the candidates who are in their final year must submit a certificate from the Principal of their institute.

Age limit – For GATE 2020, there’s no any age limit.

Nationality – All candidates should be of Indian status. Candidates from different countries aside from the Indian nation will also apply for GATE exam if they complete the eligibility criteria.

Academic needs – Candidates ought to be complete or completed in their final year of Bachelor of Engineering / Technology (B.E./B.Tech) or Post Graduate (M.Sc) degree in any science related subject.

Passing percentage – While applying for gate 2020, the minimum qualifying degree is not the minimum passing percentage.
