Depression in young mother.. A first grade government officer & mother of 6 months old baby was suffering with excess worries about health of her baby since child birth. She has constantly been worried about her physical appearance, safety concerns, health issues to extent that she wouldn't even let any other family member touch him without her presence. She was worried about each and every activity of her baby; if he is not sleeping that she would think he might have something wrong with his body or if he sleeps more that she would check if he is all fine. It was happening on day to day basis and she would involve each and every member of family to check if baby is all fine. She wouldn't sleep at night, started eating very less, would avoid visiting outside also wouldn't allow friends or distant family members to meet her child. Although she would think she was perfectly right but family got worried with her behavior pattern. They tried to convinced her but no effect. They finally took her to Gynae who advised her to meet the Psychiatrist. She was listened, her thoughts and worries were countered, some anxiolytic were prescribed, on very next visit after 10 days she was very calm and relaxed. Her treatment sessions were continued for next 6 months and she was absolutely normal as before the child birth. during the treatment, she felt that during state of constant anxiety your mind stop thinking logically and this is the time when one need opinion of an expert.
