Another milestone in complex cancer surgery. An 83-year-old patient with stomach cancer, severe heart disease (triple vessel disease), and a significantly reduced heart function (EF 20%) successfully underwent curative surgery despite being categorized as an extremely high-risk surgical candidate. After meticulous preoperative planning, careful surgical execution, and comprehensive perioperative care, the patient recovered well and was discharged home on the 5th postoperative day without any major complications. Cases like these highlight that advanced age and associated medical conditions do not always preclude cancer surgery. With proper patient selection, multidisciplinary planning, and experienced surgical care, even very high-risk patients can achieve excellent outcomes.
